Project Cloud Games, in collaboration with publisher Perp Games, released the long-awaited action RPG The Relic First Guardian on PC and consoles. The developers promised players a deep, dark fantasy setting with Asian themes, a dynamic combat system with no stamina drain, and over 80 unique bosses with tragic stories. However, the Steam release on July 31, 2026, sparked a major controversy among gamers. Immediately after its release, the project received a Mostly Negative review rating, while the positive review percentage dropped to 31%.

Users have expressed widespread dissatisfaction with the final product, highlighting the striking contrast between pre-release trailers and the actual state of the game. One of the main complaints from customers has been the graphics. Players have noted extreme screen blur, a blurry effect, and visual artifacts that make the game appear to be running at extremely low resolution. Moreover, the PC settings completely lack the usual options for adjusting texture quality, shadows, or anti-aliasing, and it's impossible to select performance or quality profiles for DLSS and XeSS technologies.

Visual issues are compounded by technical flaws in gameplay. Customers complain of camera glitches when locking on to targets, awkward impact from hits, problems with attack positioning on uneven surfaces, and the inability to remap control keys. Accusations of using neural network generated images in loading screens and the interface without proper warning have further fueled criticism.
